Optimizing Value Chains in Agriculture in the Ferghana Valley: Training and Support
August 9, 2024
On 5-7 August 2024, the UNDP in collaboration with the Ministry of Investment, Industry, and Trade, delivered a series of training sessions aimed at improving value chains (VCs) in agriculture. Capacity building activities covered key areas including the production of dried fruits and vegetables, fruit and vegetable juices, purees, jams, pastes, and other products.
The event was attended by farmers, agro-producers, and entrepreneurs in order to enhance their production efficiency and expand market access.
During the training, participants received information on the most effective and environmentally friendly technologies for processing fruits and vegetables, further development and expansion of production capacities, certification and standardization issues, marketing, and accessing foreign markets.
These training sessions were part of a comprehensive program to strengthen VCs in agriculture in the Ferghana Valley. The program included not only training but also consultations for beneficiaries and technical support for the best business ideas.
Why is VC Optimization Important?
A value chain (VC) is a sequence of actions that a product goes through from production to the end consumer. Optimizing VCs increases business efficiency, reduces costs, and increases profits.
The launched program consists of two stages. The first stage, held on 5-7 August, focused on teaching participants how to develop effective business models in agriculture, considering all the necessary elements for successful entrepreneurship. In the second stage, the most promising projects will be selected to receive consultancy and technical support.
